New Year's Eve in Aussie

New Year’s Eve
in Aussie

Auld Lang Syne and new beginnings
Memories and nostalgia too.
A time to reflect on what has been
And embrace our life anew.

The lucky country is full of hope
Cobbers and mates galore.
Cities, outback, beaches and rainforests,
So much to wonder at and more.

Another year has come to a close
It’s time to herald in the new.
A fresh beginning full of promise,
That’s my heart-felt wish for you.

Fun with Blog . . . and a Haiku . . and a Thank you . .

Dear BCC Library Staff,

Well, the BCC blog is slowly taking shape and I
am looking forward to learning and adding further
technology from 23 things for the blog, 'Yvonne's World'.

A big thank you to Cnl Staff for their friendship and support
in 2008 and the surprise birthday cake for me for 29th November.

I love words and this Haiku was the first one I attempted
many years ago. I was sitting in the front yard with writer's block
and a butterfly flew past me and gave me inspiration.

A Haiku

Carefree Butterfly
Golden beauty flitting by
Nectar in the sun.

Yvonne Pick.

Thank you to BCC Library Services for the many years I have been able
to borrow beautiful books, videos, magazines, cassettes, CD's and DVD's.

Happy Rainbows to all . . . from Yvonne.

A Christmas Poem

A Christmas Yearning for Peace
From Australia

Why is it so hard
For man to live in peace?
Christmas is a time of hope and prayer,
It’s time for conflict to cease.

Who is right and who is wrong?
Does it matter any more?
For over two thousand years,
Warring nations have kept a senseless score.

The innocence of a new-born babe
Born in Bethlehem to save a nation.
The star shone brightly, the wise men bowed,
And Salvation became God’s creation.

A simple tale for all to hear
A decree to ’Love thy neighbour’,
The birth of baby Jesus brought hope for all
To cast out sin through a blessed Saviour.

Why is it so hard
For man to live in peace?
Christmas is a time of hope and prayer,
It’s time for conflict to cease.
